Bio

Nutrition scientist with a PhD in nutritional sciences and a professional powerlifter and coach. Founder of Biolayne, the Carbon Diet Coach app, and the supplement brand Outwork Nutrition; one of the most vocal advocates for evidence-based, no-hype nutrition and training.

Protocol

Adherence over perfection: a sustainable calorie and protein target (about 0.7–1 g of protein per pound of body weight) tracked flexibly rather than a rigid 'clean' diet; progressive resistance training taken close to failure; and a short list of well-supported supplements — creatine, whey or casein protein, and caffeine.

Principles

Follow the evidence, not the trend: most results come from calories, protein, progressive overload, and consistency. Be skeptical of miracle claims, and judge every protocol by what the controlled research actually shows.

Preferred brands

Wild Maui axis deer sticks: 10g protein, 55 calories, zero sugar

These are jerky-adjacent sticks made from wild-harvested Maui axis deer—leaner and denser in protein than beef. The Peppered variety delivers 10g protein in 55 calories with zero sugar, keto-friendly, and minimal ingredients (venison, salt, spices, cultured celery powder, citric acid in a beef collagen casing). They're shelf-stable and designed as an evening protein hit without the sugar crash.

BHB shot for evening clarity without the caffeine crash

Drinkable exogenous ketone (beta-hydroxybutyrate) in a 2.1 oz serving. Ketone-IQ claims ketones are 28% more efficient fuel than glucose for brain and muscle cells, though endurance data remains early-stage. The multiserving bottle lets you dose 1–3 shots daily. No sugar, no caffeine—useful for afternoon slumps or fasted work sessions if you want mental lift without stimulants.

Momentous | Creatine Chews 150-Count

Delicious! Easy to take when on the road or at the gym. Five chews a day gets you to 5g, the dose that's actually been studied. Texture is firm and tart, closer to a Sweet Tart than a gummy. I started taking these on travel weeks when I don't want to pack a shaker. Muscle recovery case is the same evidence behind every creatine product and might be good for the brain too!

David Bronze Variety Pack: 20g protein, 150 cal, actually tastes like dessert

Eight bars split between Cookie Dough Caramel Chocolate and Peanut Butter Chocolate—engineered for the macro math, not whole-food purists. 20g whey/milk/egg protein per bar, zero sugar, third-party tested. Maltitol sweetener and collagen structure mean it reads more like candy than performance food, which is the point if you're short on protein budget but not calories.
