Bio

Retired Navy SEAL, ultra-endurance athlete, and author of Can't Hurt Me and Never Finished. Former Guinness world record holder for pull-ups in 24 hours, with dozens of ultramarathons finished on a journey that started at nearly 300 pounds.

Protocol

A published routine of extreme consistency: running twice most days with cycling mixed in, strength work, and a multi-hour daily stretching practice he credits with keeping him running; a disciplined whole-food diet; and deliberately doing something hard every day regardless of motivation.

Principles

The mind is the governor: his 40% rule holds that when you feel done you're less than half spent. Discipline over motivation, honest self-audit in the accountability mirror, and callousing the mind through voluntary hardship.
