Bio

Distinguished professor of biochemistry and physiology at the National University of Singapore, where he directs the Centre for Healthy Longevity, and former president and CEO of the Buck Institute. One of the most-cited researchers in the biology of aging.

Protocol

His lab identifies and validates geroprotectors — interventions like rapamycin (which he treats as the gold-standard mTOR-targeting compound) and metformin — first in model organisms, then in human biomarker trials run through his Singapore center. He increasingly applies combinations and AI-driven approaches to find and test longevity interventions.

Principles

Move interventions into people — the goal is not just to understand aging but to validate, in humans and by biomarkers, which geroprotectors actually work, using drugs already proven safe as the fastest path.
