Bio

Canadian nephrologist and author of the international bestsellers The Obesity Code and The Complete Guide to Fasting. Co-founder of The Fasting Method, he reframed obesity and type 2 diabetes as hormonal — driven by insulin — rather than a simple matter of calories.

Protocol

Therapeutic fasting paired with a low-refined-carbohydrate, whole-food diet: intermittent fasting schedules from 16:8 up to longer supervised fasts, cutting sugar and refined grains to lower insulin, keeping protein moderate, and using the eating window — not just the food — as the lever. He treats when you eat as being as important as what.

Principles

Lower insulin to lose fat and reverse type 2 diabetes: treat the hormonal driver instead of counting calories, and use fasting as a deliberate, structured clinical tool with clear contraindications.
