Bio

Physician, founder of the nonprofit Preventive Medicine Research Institute, and clinical professor at UCSF. His 1990 Lifestyle Heart Trial in The Lancet was the first randomized trial to show coronary disease regression from lifestyle alone; his program is Medicare-covered, and his latest book is Undo It!

Protocol

Four pillars, summed up as 'eat well, move more, stress less, love more': a whole-food, plant-based diet low in refined carbs and added fats; moderate daily exercise; stress management including yoga, meditation, and breathing; and social support and connection.

Principles

One lifestyle, many diseases: the same program that reverses heart disease also improves diabetes, blood pressure, early prostate cancer, and cellular markers of aging — because it addresses shared upstream causes rather than one organ at a time.
