The strongest evidence is observational—people with naturally higher C15:0 levels have better metabolic health, but this does not prove supplementation causes the benefit. Few RCTs of C15:0 supplementation exist, and those that do are small. C15:0 is naturally present in dairy and ruminant meat, so the relevant comparison is whether supplementation adds benefit beyond dietary sources. Long-term safety and optimal dosing are not well characterized.
