Stability is a major practical issue—vitamin C oxidizes rapidly in air and light, so many commercial serums may lose potency before use. Efficacy depends heavily on formulation pH and concentration; poorly formulated products show minimal benefit. Some individuals experience irritation, especially at higher concentrations.
