Vitamin C stability in sunscreen formulations is notoriously poor—oxidation and pH sensitivity limit bioavailability in many commercial products. Few RCTs directly compare antioxidant-enriched sunscreens to standard sunscreens in humans. Antioxidant efficacy depends heavily on formulation, concentration, and stability; marketing claims often outpace the evidence for specific products. The primary benefit of sunscreen comes from UV filtration, not the antioxidant add-ons.
