CGM accuracy varies by device and individual factors (sensor placement, hydration, skin chemistry); interstitial glucose lags venous blood glucose by 5–15 minutes, which can matter during rapid glucose swings. Most RCTs are industry-sponsored and relatively short-term (weeks to months). Long-term cardiovascular or mortality outcomes in non-diabetic populations remain unstudied. Use in non-diabetic individuals for 'metabolic optimization' is popular but lacks RCT evidence; observational data on whether CGM-guided behavior change improves health in euglycemic people is sparse.
