PDRN has observational and some small RCT support for wound healing and skin regeneration, particularly in clinical settings (dermatology, post-procedure recovery). However, evidence for topical PDRN serum efficacy in anti-aging or general skin health is limited; most robust data come from injectable or intradermal PDRN in controlled medical contexts. Topical collagen lacks evidence for meaningful dermal penetration or collagen deposition.
PDRN (polydeoxyribonucleotide) is a DNA fragment that may stimulate fibroblast proliferation and collagen synthesis via adenosine receptor signaling and growth factor upregulation. Topical collagen in serums acts as a humectant and may provide structural support, though intact collagen molecules are too large to penetrate the stratum corneum effectively.

Most PDRN studies are small, conducted in dermatology clinics (post-laser, post-surgery), and measure surrogate outcomes (collagen density on ultrasound, wound closure rate) rather than long-term skin aging. No large RCTs comparing topical PDRN serum to placebo in healthy populations. Topical collagen molecules are too large to cross the skin barrier; any benefit is likely osmotic (hydration) rather than structural. Injectable PDRN has stronger evidence than topical formulations.
