Mechanism

Caveats
Most evidence for life-extension and sirtuin activation comes from animal studies (C. elegans, rodents) at doses not easily translatable to humans. Few rigorous RCTs in humans exist; available trials are mostly short-term and underpowered. Resveratrol's bioavailability is poor (typically <1%), and whether supplements reach target tissues at effective concentrations remains unclear. No large prospective cohorts have demonstrated mortality reduction in humans. Combined with other polyphenols or in food form (e.g., red wine, whole grapes) may differ from isolated supplement efficacy.
